Current Members 2025-26:
Jerry Olinik (Chair)
I was born and raised in Redford but for most of my adult life I have lived in Livingston County, currently in Hamburg. I have five amazing kids—each of them unique and doing their own thing. One of my kids is still at home, which keeps things interesting and lively around the house.
I grew up in the Catholic Church, and like many, my relationship with the Church has had its ups and downs. There were times I drifted away, but even when I wasn’t showing up every week, the values I learned stayed with me. I returned to the Church about eight years ago, and of course, the Church welcomed me back, and I found a deeper appreciation for the connections and support it offered. Four years ago, I joined Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Honestly, it’s become more than just a place to worship—it’s a real home for me. The people here are awesome, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. I’ve made new friends, found new ways to get involved, and really feel part of something special.
I’m also proud to serve as a Knight. As a Knight, I have the privilege of collaborating with others who are equally passionate about making a difference.
Recently, I was honored to accept the role of chairperson of the Parish Council—a responsibility I embrace with gratitude and humility. I look forward to this new chapter of service, eager to contribute my energy and dedication to our parish’s ongoing growth and well-being.

Dale Mackmiller
Karen Maddick
I was raised in Southfield, the oldest of 10 children. We were blessed to have our maternal grandparents right next door. I was baptized at the age of 12 at First Baptist Church of Southfield. That was my first church home. I was an active member in bible study, VBS, youth group and Christmas pageants where my grandpa played Santa every year. The whole neighborhood turned out for that evening.
I worked for the Sisters of Mercy Health Corporation at Mt. Carmel hospital in Detroit for many years before moving into the family business with my dad and six brothers. They were rough carpenters (framers) and I learned finish carpentry. Fr. John suggested I become a member of the St. Joseph Guild when he heard of my background skills. I am so grateful for that insight; the members of this group are wonderful to work and fellowship with.
I later finished my bachelor’s degree at Madonna University and taught in Inkster and Detroit. I continued to live in a house I purchased on the same street I grew up on. My fiancée died suddenly and I was devastated. One day while driving on errands, I was stopped at a light, right next to a LED sign that was flashing “Saturday Mass 4pm”. Our Lady of Loretto, Redford became my church home and the Catholic faith filled me and filled in the pieces that were missing. I went through the RCIA classes there and then transferred my membership here when I moved in 2020.
The Catholic faith is what I longed for. God always had His hand on my life, and I am grateful. I am so happy to be here and to serve our Risen Lord at Holy Spirit. I am currently Vice-President of the Women’s Guild and serve as an usher and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. I am also in training to be an active member of our St. Vincent de Paul group.
